Introduction

Yaman Ekşioğlu, MD, PhD, is a Pediatric Neurologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Associate Professor at Emory University School of Medicine. He currently serves as Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.

Dr. Ekşioğlu joined Emory University School of Medicine and Children’s in 2018 to lead the development of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center to the highest standards, initiating a recruitment process, adding five outstanding epileptologists and forming a state-of-the-art Level IV Epilepsy Center, with latest technologies. These included stereoelectroencephalography, conventional epilepsy surgery, minimally invasive MRgLITT technology, responsive neurostimulation (RNS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS). The Children’s Epilepsy Fellowship Program expanded to train two epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology fellows in 2021.

Dr. Ekşioğlu’s team performs translational and clinical research to study epilepsy genetics, epileptogenesis in malformations of cortical development and tuberous sclerosis complex, continuing unprecedented modernization to serve Georgia’s kids.
