Introduction
Jacob Lepard, MD, is a Pediatric Neurosurgeon at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Lepard’s clinical areas of interest include congenital malformations, fetal closure of spina bifida and surgical care of spasticity. He also has expertise in pediatric tumors, vascular malformations, epilepsy and spinal disorders.
Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tenn, Dr. Lepard pursued his undergraduate studies in biochemistry, with a minor in philosophy at Lee University. In 2014, he earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. He then completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021, during which he participated in an enfolded fellowship in global neurosurgical research and education through the Harvard Program for Global Surgery and Social Change, focusing on hydrocephalus and spina bifida care in low-resource settings.
Following his residency training, he completed a fellowship in complex spinal deformities with the Department of Orthopedics at University of Alabama at Birmingham. From 2022 to 2023, he further specialized with a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. His training encompassed a wide range of areas, including pediatric tumors, spasticity, vascular malformations, spinal disorders, congenital malformations, epilepsy and fetal surgery.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Lepard enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife and five children.
