Originally from New Orleans, La., Dr. Oster is a pediatric cardiologist who sees patients both in the outpatient setting and in the inpatient setting at Egleston. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine and Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health. Dr. Oster also serves as a medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his Master of Public Health in epidemiology at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. After completing residency training in pediatrics at the University of California-San Francisco, he underwent fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Emory University. When not seeing patients, Dr. Oster serves as director of the Children’s Cardiac Outcomes Research Program at Sibley Heart Center, an Atlanta-based research alliance that focuses on advancing research and innovation to improve pediatric-specific therapies for congenital heart disease (CHD). His research interests include newborn screening for CHD, the epidemiology of CHD and long-term outcomes for patients with CHD. He has served on numerous national committees with the American Heart Association, the Pediatric Heart Network, the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association and the Congenital Heart Public Health Consortium.
