Introduction

Vijay Srinivasan, MBBS, MD, FAAP, FCCM, is the Division Chief of Critical Care Medicine at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and serves as Richard J. Blumberg Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Srinivasan is an experienced physician, researcher, teacher and leader. Prior to joining Children’s, he practiced at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where he served as a pediatric intensivist and Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he was Advisory Dean to medical students at PSOM and led the International Education Program for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at CHOP.

Dr. Srinivasan is an elected Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). He has been elected to the Executive Committees in both the AAP Section on Critical Care (SOCC) and the Pediatric Section of Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). He is Chair-Elect of the AAP SOCC and serves on the Editorial Board of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Srinivasan has been involved with the development of numerous guidelines including American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Guidelines in 2005 and 2010 and current SCCM guidelines on sedation and analgesia for critically ill neonates, infants and children, and management of stress hyperglycemia with insulin therapy in critically ill adults and children.

After completing medical school and a residency in Pediatrics at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, Dr. Srinivasan completed an internship in Pediatrics at Cook County Children’s Hospital in Chicago, a pediatric residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at CHOP.

Research & Publications

Dr. Srinivasan’s research and quality improvement programs focus on critical illness endocrinopathies and nutrition. His research has been recognized with awards from the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He is a founding member and Vice-Chair of the NutriNet sub-group of the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) network and serves as Principal/Site investigator for several studies.
