LEARN MORE
Well-child checkups are recommended for all children and teens. Your child will receive a physical exam, as well as any immunizations* needed.
During a well-child checkup, one of our providers will ask questions about issues that might affect your child’s health or performance in school, such as eating and sleep patterns or new skills they have developed. You will also have a chance to discuss your child’s development, behavioral and safety concerns with your provider.
An age-appropriate questionnaire will be available in MyChart prior to your child's well-child check-up. Please complete this form before your child's appointment, so we can address any concerns or issues while you are in the office.
Well-child checkup schedule
We recommend scheduling your child’s health checks according to the schedule below:
- Within the first seven days of being born
- 1 month old
- 2 months old
- 4 months old
- 6 months old
- 9 months old
- 12 months old
- 15 months old
- 18 months old
- 2 years old
- 2.5 years old
- Annually from 3 to 20 years old
We may be able to see your child the same day for sick visits. It is best to call our office early in the morning. Same-day sick visits should only be used for common illnesses or minor injuries, such as:
- Colds
- Cough
- Earaches and ear infections
- Flu
- Skin and scalp rashes
- Sore throat
- Stomachaches and vomiting
- Minor injuries
We offer prenatal consultations for expectant parents at our office to help them decide if our practice is right for their family.
If you choose Snapfinger Woods Pediatrics as your pediatric primary care office, please contact our office once your baby is born, and we will schedule a newborn visit with one of our doctors to examine your baby. We like to see newborns for their first visit within one to two days of birth.
We can schedule special consult appointments for learning or behavioral and mental health problems. We know these issues require special care and attention, so we allow extra time to discuss specific issues and review any information from your child’s school.
For school-aged children, school and sports physicals are part of your child's annual well-child visit. Please bring your child's school and/or sports forms to your child's scheduled appointment, so they can be completed during the visit.
At Snapfinger Woods Pediatrics, we know kids are not small adults. If your child requires additional testing or needs to see a specialist, you are in good hands. Our pediatricians are affiliated with Children’s three pediatric hospitals and work closely with Children’s specialists, giving your child access to pediatric care experts in more than 60 different specialties, programs and clinics.
Our pediatricians are also proud members of The Children's Care Network, a clinically integrated network created through a partnership between community physicians—both primary care and specialists—and Children's.
We offer hearing and vision screenings along with blood tests that can check your child’s iron and sugar levels, urine tests to check for bladder or kidney infections, as well as tests for common illnesses like strep throat and flu.
For many tests, you will have the results before you leave our office.

What vaccines does my child need?
Your child will receive most of their childhood vaccines by the time they are 6 years old. Many vaccines are given more than once, at different ages in different combinations. You can download an immunization schedule from the CDC.
