Fellows participate in conferences sponsored by Sibley Heart Center Cardiology, the Division of Pediatrics of Emory University School of Medicine, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Fellows are responsible for informal and formal presentations to the medical students and residents throughout their fellowship.
Cardiac Catheterization Conference: (Weekly) - Attendees review and present clinical, non-invasive, catheterization and MRI data on patients in need of discussion for medical or surgical management. Fellows present the cases with supporting diagnostic information and participate in discussion of preoperative patients.
Weekend Echo Review: The conference is held every Monday morning to review significant echocardiograms performed over the preceding weekend.
Echo Lunch-And-Learn: Held every Thursday, all members of the echocardiography department, faculty and fellows review specific echocardiography topics or significant cases.
Core Curriculum Lecture: Held Friday mornings for the fellows, lectures are composed of a two-year curriculum of basic science and clinical topics that cover the entire spectrum of pediatric cardiology.
Morbidity and Mortality: Held twice monthly to review medical and surgical cases.
Journal Club: Held every two months, current literature is reviewed with faculty and fellows.
Research Conference: Presented in conjunction with the research administrative office staff for review of research studies proposed or currently in progress.
Pathology Conference: Held monthly to provide hands-on examination of specimens from recent cases or from the Kevin Wynn Anatomic Cardiac Pathology Collection.
Chief of Service Rounds: Case based conference in which a single patient is discussed in depth including review of all pertinent clinical data.
Angio Review Conference: Review of interesting angiograms from the prior week led by one of the catheterization lab staff. The specific lesions as well as principles of angiography and image generation are discussed.
CICU/CSU Service Rounds: Informal weekly conference discussing interesting patients and management issues from the CICU and CSU.
