Amit Thakral, MD, joined Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a Pediatric Rheumatologist and Emory University as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 2017. He came to Georgia from Chicago, Illinois, where he completed a three-year fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Northwestern University and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Thakral earned a medical degree from St. Matthew’s University in the Grand Cayman Islands, followed by residency training in pediatrics at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn. He also completed his MBA with an emphasis in healthcare administration at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Dr. Thakral has broad experience in pediatric rheumatic diseases and enjoys seeing patients with all types of autoimmune conditions. He has a special interest in quality improvement and strives to find ways to improve patient care, while also increasing clinical efficiency.
In his spare time, Dr. Thakral enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, trying new restaurants and watching sports. He was born and raised in Texas, so he continues to follow his Houston sports teams.
