WATCH: A Day in the Life of Our Honorary Construction Managers
Ever wonder what it’s like to build a 446-bed hospital that will provide healthcare services to kids in Georgia? Well, for three Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta pediatric patients, Ariella-Faith, Lex and Jojo, that opportunity has come.
These extraordinary kids were selected to become Honorary Construction Managers of the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital at the North Druid Hills campus.
Joined by Chris Chelette, Senior Vice President of Facilities Services at Children’s, our Honorary Construction Managers will tour the construction site and provide updates to Mr. Blank and the community over the next four years. One of their first updates is below.
This year, Children’s has made significant progress in the construction of the 19-story Arthur M. Blank Hospital and the buildout of the campus at North Druid Hills.
2021 Construction Milestones to Date:
- Hospital structure is complete through Level 10 of the patient tower
- Exterior skin and roofing installation is underway on the lower levels
- Construction of the supporting Central Utility Plant is underway
- The South Parking Deck is substantially complete and being used for construction worker parking
A Look Ahead
As we round out the year, the construction team will continue to work on the patient tower structure and building out the interior areas on lower levels. The Central Utility Plant will be complete and operational by April 2022 to support hospital construction. Construction of the attached Clinic Building and North Parking Deck will commence in early 2022. We are excited and look forward to welcoming children to the new campus in 2025.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Children’s as we continue to advance our mission to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow.
