Ansley Cochran was 2 years old when she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Her prognosis was extremely good as she started chemo treatments. At her first follo-up scan in 1999, her family learned the cancer had returned to the original spot and spread into both her lungs. Ansley received aggressive chemo, had many surgeries and spent the next summer receiving a blood and marrow transplant.
The cancer has returned twice—once in 2004 and once in 2009, both times to the original spot. It was controlled with radiation treatments and another surgery in February 2010.
In the years since her diagnosis, Ansley has raised thousands of dollars through lemonade stands and yard sales and donated it to the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Relay for Life and other organizations.
Today, 14-year-old Ansley draws beautifully and shares her singing talent performing solos at her aunt’s church. She also kicked off the Paulding County Relay by singing the National Anthem.
