Our Unique Approach

With one of the only pediatric aerodigestive centers in the Southeast, Children’s has the expertise to treat children and young adults from across the region who have the most serious aerodigestive issues.

When patients visit our clinic, they see physicians and specialists from multiple areas who work together to provide the best possible care. Our team monitors patients’ progress and performs joint appointments, procedures and surgeries. This helps to minimize travel time, days out of school or work and anesthesia time.

We bring together a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care for our complex patients. Plus, our nurse practitioners are trained in gastroenterology (GI), otolaryngology (ENT) and pulmonary medicine so they can care for the whole child. We rely on healthcare professionals from the following areas:

  • Pulmonology
  • Gastroenterology (GI)
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)
  • Speech-language therapy
  • Surgery
  • Respiratory therapy

Care coordinators provide feedback about treatment plans, support services and ongoing care to our patients. They are available daily to answer questions and include:

  • Nurses
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Dietitians
  • Case managers
