Make a Difference For Kids With Cancer and Sickle Cell Disease
This year, thousands of children across the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer. Many more will face the debilitating effects of sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder. At Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, we see the impact up close.
At the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our patients bravely face medical journeys that go beyond a single diagnosis. Every September, Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month gives us a chance to spotlight their strength and invite our community to act.
Children’s has one of the largest pediatric cancer and sickle cell disease programs in the country, treating more than 500 newly diagnosed cancer patients every year and caring for more than 2,100 children with sickle cell disease.
Federal funding covers less than 4% of pediatric cancer research needs. That’s why your support is vital.
As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on support from donors like you. Every gift—every dollar—helps advance our goal to eliminate pediatric cancer and blood disorders once and for all. Throughout September, your generosity will have twice the impact, thanks to a special matching gift from the Aflac Foundation, Inc. in celebration of their 30 years partnering with Children’s.
This September, stand with Georgia’s kids. Help us continue to fight for a cure for childhood cancer and sickle cell disease.
The Georgia Kids You’re Supporting This September
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or sickle cell disease, their family can turn to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia’s most trusted name in pediatric care.
The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is the only pediatric hematology and oncology program in the country that brings together:
- One of the largest programs for pediatric cancer and sickle cell patients in the U.S., treating more than 9,800 patients each year.
- Aflac Inc., a major corporate partner deeply committed to children’s healthcare.
- Our scientific and academic partnership with Emory University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, a top-tier research institute driving new breakthroughs.
That means every child who walks through our doors has access to leading-edge specialized pediatric care—and your support helps make that possible.
Because Children’s is a not-for-profit organization, gifts from donors like you fund the critical things insurance and federal funding don’t cover, including:
- Groundbreaking clinical trials.
- Care for more than 2,100 children living with sickle cell disease annually.
- Mental health resources.
- Innovative research into better treatments and cures.
Every child with cancer or sickle cell disease deserves more than just treatment, they deserve the best chance at healing and growing up healthy. That’s what you support when you give to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
100% of your donation supports programs, research and services for patients and families at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
In honor of their 30 years of support for Children’s, the Aflac Foundation, Inc. will match all gifts made in September up to $30,000, doubling the impact of your generosity.
