Emory University, Our Primary Research and Academic Partner

Children’s and Emory University School of Medicine partner together on clinical trials, residencies and fellowships. More than 500 physicians hold titles at both institutions. Our research program has ranked in the top five nationally for National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for nearly a decade.

Learn About Emory

According to U.S. News & World Report, our Neonatology Program is ranked among the best in the country and No. 1 in the Southeast, with a Level IV NICU and 35 years of continuous funding from the NICHD Neonatal Research Network. In partnership with Emory University School of Medicine, our physicians and scientists conduct research that is nationally recognized for advancing care for critically ill neonates and infants through a robust academic-clinical partnership. Investigators hold leadership roles in the NICHD Neonatal Research Network, Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium, Cerebral Palsy Early Detection and Intervention Network and participate in other national and international research and improvement collaboratives. Areas of strength include patient-based research in neonatal clinical trials, neuroscience (including Dr. Maitre's Baby Brain Optimization Project) and cerebral palsy, quality improvement, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and nutrition, international and national clinical guidelines development, and PDA closure in collaboration with our Heart Center.

Learn more about our partnership with Emory through the Emory University School of Medicine Division of Neonatology and our Neonatology Fellowship training program.
