Amit Thakral MD, MBA, joined Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University as a Pediatric Rheumatologist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in July of 2017. He came to Georgia from Chicago, where he completed a three-year fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Northwestern University and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Thakral earned a medical degree from St. Matthew’s University in the Grand Cayman Islands, followed by residency training in pediatrics at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Philadelphia. He also completed his MBA with an emphasis in health care administration from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Dr. Thakral has broad experience in pediatric rheumatic diseases and enjoys seeing patients with all types of autoimmune conditions. He enjoys working with patients and their families in treating chronic rheumatic conditions. He has a special interest in quality improvement and strives to find ways to improve patient care, while also increasing clinical efficiency.
In his spare time, you will find Dr. Thakral traveling, trying new restaurants, watching sports and spending time with his family. He was born and raised in Texas and continues to follow his Houston sports teams. He looks forward to being back in the South and is excited to call Atlanta his new home.
