The Child Protection Telemedicine and Distance Learning Network

Prompt response to child abuse or neglect is critical. Telemedicine can help you get the right help for your young patients right away, without leaving your community.

Child advocacy center staff, medical professionals, child protective service workers and law enforcement throughout Georgia can access these services through the Child Protection Telemedicine and Distance Learning Network.

The network provides one-on-one access to a team of experts—effectively and remotely—when sexual or physical abuse or neglect is suspected. Teleconferencing equipment allows a provider at Children’s to converse with the patient, family, investigators and examiner. Medical experts provide real-time assistance with physical exams, while mental health professionals provide psychological assessments and care, all over the network.

Distance learning

Multidisciplinary teams have access to continuing education about various aspects of child abuse and neglect investigations from the center through the telemedicine network. Continuing education credit is available.

Distance learning is offered at several locations via the Center's telemedicine network. Sessions are held the second Tuesday of every month from 9 to 10 a.m.

To register for a distance learning session at one of the participating child advocacy centers (CAC), contact the CAC directly. Location and contact information is below.

For more information about the distance learning program, email Elizabeth Williams.
