Introduction
Jairo A. Fonseca, MD, is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician-scientist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and an Instructor at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Fonseca earned his medical degree at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Following medical school, he completed his residency training at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine and his fellowship training at Emory University School of Medicine/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Dr. Fonseca provides care for children with a wide variety of infectious diseases. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Fonseca leads research on improving treatments and finding cures for pediatric HIV, building on his background in vaccine development and immunotherapy. He is passionate about translating scientific discoveries into better care for children, especially in underserved communities. Dr. Fonseca is fluent in English and Spanish and is committed to clear, compassionate communication with every patient family he serves.
