Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Trauma Care
- We have three pediatric emergency hospitals located throughout metro Atlanta.
- We have 167 emergency room beds and 104 ICU beds to treat critical patients.
- Children’s has one of the few pediatric extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) centers in the Southeast with eight machines at Arthur M. Blank Hospital to provide life-saving care to patients.
- Our emergency department volumes are among the busiest in the country.
- Our board-certified pediatric trauma surgeons and pediatric anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day.
- Children’s has a pediatric-trained ground and air transport team to transfer critical patients to our hospitals for treatment.
Special Care Unit
- We have a 6-bed Special Care Unit (SCU) at Children’s Arthur M. Blank Hospital that is unique in the Southeastern region and among few in the United States designated exclusively for the care of children with highly contagious infectious diseases.
- Each isolation room has uni-directional flow to minimize cross-contamination, designated rooms to put on and remove personal protective equipment, and a state-of-the-art audio and visual monitoring system to facilitate communication among staff providing patient care.
