With a team of more than 50 pediatric cardiologists, Children’s Cardiology is committed to delivering the best possible experience to you and your patients. Each year, Children’s Cardiology treats patients ranging from those with complex congenital heart defects to those who require a simple sports physical clearance.

Children’s Cardiology provides:

  • On-call physicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Same-day appointments for high-priority patients.
  • Timely consultation report.
  • Seminars and conferences by industry leaders and Emory University School of Medicine-appointed physicians.
  • A physician liaison team to help deliver the highest level of service.
  • The City Call Hospital Program, an inpatient consultation service for metro Atlanta hospitals.

Call the Cardiac Contact Center at 404-256-2593 or 800-542-2233. To help make sure you receive prompt service, include the patient’s name and demographics, the responsible party’s name and phone number, the reason for visit or diagnosis code, the insurance name and policy ID, and the physician’s notes from the patient’s visit.

Refer by fax:

Complete and fax forms to 404-252-7431. Provide the patient with a copy of the completed form to bring to the first appointment.

Children’s pediatric cardiologists are available 24 hours a day for consultations and patient care through our City Call Program. Call 404-256-2593 or 800-542-2233 for referrals, consultations or immediate access to our physicians, who have privileges at more than 40 hospitals across Georgia.

Cardiologists

We accept all major insurance plans. Once your patient’s appointment is scheduled, fax all relevant medical records before the first appointment. Insurance companies may require written approval before a patient can be treated. Many may refuse to pay if referral guidelines are not followed according to the member’s plan. To help make sure there is proper reimbursement for requested services:

  • Make a predetermination of active coverage, including network stipulations.
  • Generate a referral request from the patient’s insurance plan.
  • Fax or email all validated referrals to 404-252-7431 or referral@kidsheart.com.

To make a referral to Children’s, use one of the following easy methods:

  1. Referral forms: Make a referral using our online referral form or by choosing the appropriate form below.
  2. accessCHOA: This free, secure, web-based electronic health record system provides physicians the ability to electronically submit referrals to Children’s specialists.

At the Children’s Heart Center, we work with patients and families to ensure they have the best possible experience before, during and after treatment for a heart condition. Our nurse navigators and referral coordinators work with patients, families and referring physicians to help ensure excellent communication and smooth transitions to Children’s for diagnostic testing, treatment and follow-up care. We provide seamless access to providers across the hospital for a coordinated, team-based approach to your patient’s care, providing information and educational resources each step of the way.

Additionally, we help coordinate your patient’s care by:

  • Gathering medical records and imaging results from other health systems.
  • Helping families navigate the hospitals and escorting them as needed.
  • Assisting with the hospital intake process and clinic visits.
  • Coordinating multiple tests to optimize sedation and time
  • Referring to case management for arranging the use of durable medical equipment after a child or teen is released from the hospital.
  • Coordinating interpretation services.
  • Coordinating financial planning with insurance companies and assisting with financial assistance if needed.
  • Communicating with you and coordinating requests.
