Hospital Volunteers

Volunteer Opportunities in Our Hospitals

Some of the approximately 1,200 hospital volunteers, known as "Friends," work behind the scenes in hospital administrative support. Others assist families and hospital visitors with excellent customer service. Most volunteers have the opportunity to interact with hospital patients every day—rocking babies, helping with schoolwork, delivering videos and books, hosting special events and working in our popular gift shops among their many contributions.

Children's offers many hospital volunteer opportunities for a variety of ages and groups:

  • Donations & Activities
More of a one-time volunteer opportunity, you can donate much-needed items or host an acitivity in the hospital.

Volunteering at Children's is truly an opportunity to give back to your community and to do it in an environment where you are appreciated for any time you can offer. You walk away feeling good about the time you spent here. - Susan Messner, volunteer for nine years

In my nearly 25 years of volunteering, I’ve done everything from assigning volunteers duties to answering phones. Children’s is so good to the volunteers. They treat us really well, and we all feel like we’re part of the team here. There are many places you can donate your time, but the time you spend at Children’s is truly rewarding because you know you are helping to further their mission of enhancing the lives of Atlanta’s children. - Barbara Dillingham, volunteer for 23 years
