Established in 2011, Emerging Leaders for Children’s (ELC) is a leadership development board of accomplished business professionals, physicians and community volunteers in their 30s to early 40s. As ambassadors, advocates and fundraisers, members have a profound impact on Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta—one of the nation’s leading and largest pediatric healthcare systems.

Under the oversight of the Children’s Foundation Board of Trustees, ELC educates members about Children’s and its vision for the future, in order to develop strong community ambassadors, fundraisers and future volunteer leaders. Regular business meetings, networking opportunities with Trustees and executives, volunteer engagement with patients, and member socials make for a meaningful ELC experience.

Core to ELC is the group’s signature fundraising event, The Scrubs Party, hosted each spring in support of a program voted upon by the group. Past events have funded the Aflac Cancer Center, Children’s Concussion Program, Center for Robotics, Child Protection Fellowship and Critical Care Program. In its early years, ELC also raised significant funding for brain tumor research and helped launch the Children’s childhood obesity prevention campaign in metro Atlanta by bringing the Strong4Life Program to three local elementary schools. In 2019, ELC surpassed $1.8M in cumulative net contributions to Children’s through the Scrub party.
