Introduction
Logan Garfield Caplan, MD, is a Pediatric Sports Medicine Physician at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Caplan, a Florida native, received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Florida followed by her medical degree at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before pursuing a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Caplan has served as a team physician for football, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, track and field, baseball, ice hockey, and lacrosse at the high school, college (Divisions I, II and III) and professional levels. She has also covered several large sporting events, including marathons, high school and Division I NCAA wrestling tournaments, and the Penn Relays, the largest track and field event in the country.
Dr. Caplan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and concussion. She has particular interest in female athletes, soccer athletes, lower extremity injuries, spondylolysis, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, as well as early sport specialization and injury prevention.
In her spare time, Dr. Caplan enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, hiking, running, playing sports and watching football with her husband.
