Steve Smith Launches Twitter-based 'Count Me In for Kids' Campaign to Benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding

Former NBA Player and Current Studio Analyst for NBA TV Shoots to Raise Funds, Awareness for Not-For-Profit Pediatric Hospital

ATLANTA (May 2011) -- Now through June 10, former NBA player and current studio analyst for NBA TV, Steve Smith, will host “Count Me In for Kids” to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding. During the three-week campaign, Smith shoots to raise awareness and funds for Children’s at Hughes Spalding by encouraging his friends and followers on Twitter to support the not-for-profit hospital.

“Knowing that every dollar counts, it is my hope that together we can make a difference in the life of a child,” said Steve Smith. “Our support for Children’s at Hughes Spalding will help to ensure that the hospital is able to continue to serve the children of Georgia today and in the future.”

Smith is a member of the Children’s at Hughes Spalding Community Board, a committee dedicated to spreading awareness and growing fundraising and volunteer outreach for the newly revitalized pediatric hospital. Located in the heart of Atlanta, Children’s at Hughes Spalding houses specialty clinics for asthma, sickle cell and child protection. The facility features an emergency department as well as primary care services with extended night and weekend hours. Children’s at Hughes Spalding is one of the three hospitals that comprise Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a leading pediatric health care system that serves more than half a million patients each year.
