This one day workshop is hosted by the Children’s Sports Medicine Program and held at Scottish Rite hospital. It is designed to expose interested high school students to sports medicine and athletic training. No previous experience is necessary.
The workshop is divided into hands-on experience and lecture time, which will allow students to learn and practice new skills. Upon completion of the workshop, the student should return to the high school with more confidence and provide better assistance to their high school’s Certified Athletic Trainer.
During this one day training session, the student will learn about:
- Concussions
- Heat illness
- Hydration
- Emergency situations
- Equipment fitting
- Skin infections
- Splinting, stretching, taping techniques
- Treatment of acute injuries
The workshop is led by the Children’s Sports Medicine Program. Members of the Children’s team have valuable knowledge and experience in the field of athletic training and high school sport’s injury management.
Who Should Attend: Any high school student grades 9 – 12 with an interest in sports medicine and athletic training.
