Lab work is one way to make sure your child is on the right amount of medicine. After discharge, your child will need lab work often. As time goes by, the lab schedule will vary based on how your child is doing.
- Have all lab tests done as your child’s doctor orders.
- Call the Children’s Liver Transplant office if you forget to have lab tests done or need to have them drawn at a time other than scheduled.
- If your child has a central venous line (CVL), it may be used to take blood samples for lab work. A CVL is a soft tube that is inserted into a large vein leading into the heart. It can be used to give nutrition, fluids and medicines, and take blood for lab work.
