In 2013, Children’s had an average length of stay of 9.5 days for heart transplant recipients.
What does this data mean?
This graph shows the average length of stay in our hospital for the patients who received a heart transplant in 2010 through 2013. Patients who were transplanted at Children’s stayed in the hospital for an average of one week after their transplants last year.
Why is the length of stay important?
Length of stay shows how quickly patients heal after their surgeries. Our goal is to get patients back home with their family and friends as soon as possible.
How does Children’s make sure we are giving high-quality care?
- After his transplant, our team will check each child closely to lessen the chance of complications, such as rejection.
- Our heart transplant team teaches families about how to care for their children before, during and after their transplants.
