One of the ways the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sleep Center helps your child is by conducting a sleep study (also called a polysomnogram). A sleep study is a test that looks at what happens to your child’s body when he is sleeping. The study monitors your child’s:
- Brain waves
- Breathing
- Heart rate
- Body movements
Sleep studies at Children’s:
- are painless—no needles are used.
- are done at night in a private room with a parent present.
- are covered by most insurance companies.
Your child's doctor will use the test results to diagnose any sleep or breathing disorder that is evident.
