Children may be referred for either ongoing care and management of their aerodigestive concerns or for a multidisciplinary consultation.

Ongoing management will be provided by our team, which includes a gastroenterologist, a pulmonologist, an otolaryngologist, a respiratory therapist, a nurse practitioner, nurses, a nutritionist and a speech-language therapist.

      Multidisciplinary consultation

Our Team

Sometimes children with very complex conditions of the upper digestive tract and airway, respiratory and pulmonary systems require care from more than just one expert. At Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, our team offers a multidisciplinary approach to this type of care, called aerodigestive. It combines gastroenterologypulmonology, otolaryngology, speech language pathology, nutrition, respiratory therapy and nursing. When patients visit our clinic, they are seen by multiple physicians and team members from each of these areas who collaborate to provide the most comprehensive care for patients.

A Nurse Practitioner and nurses provide feedback about treatment plans, support services and ongoing care to our patients. We make sure to share treatment plans with all of the healthcare professionals involved in the child's care. If the child needs other specialty treatment, a wide variety of pediatric specialists work with us to take care of their comprehensive needs including but not limited to surgeons, dentists, sleep specialists, and audiologists.
