Consultation Liaison Psychiatry

The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) offers mental health evaluation and treatment to hospitalized children and adolescents.

When a child/adolescent is determined to have a mental health need the attending physician orders a psychiatric consultation. Typical needs identified include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Difficulty coping with a physical illness
  • Difficulty following the prescribed medical treatment plan
  • Pain management
  • Need for psychiatric medications
  • Developmental issues and eating problems
