My Noah was born Dec. 17, 2010. Shortly after I had him, he started turning purple and was rushed away from me. Hours later, they took me to see him and informed me that none of his pulmonary veins were connected to his heart, preventing blood from flowing.
The only reason he was alive was because a small hole was letting just enough blood pass through. They life flighted him to Children's, and he had open heart surgery the very next day. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for a month, and then we were allowed to take him home on oxygen and a feeding tube. A month later, we found out he had stenosis in his veins; in other words, built-up scar tissue was blocking the blood from flowing. So once again we stayed at the RMH and he had surgery. All the nurses and just the atmosphere gave us so much hope in such a difficult time.
Noah is going to be 5 this year and is an energetic ball of sunshine. We go annually to the cardiologist, and so far everything is great.
Thank you so much CHOA for saving my child's life.
