In 1998, my nursing school pediatric clinical rotation brought me to the Scottish Rite hospital campus on what was the third floor at that time. The experience solidified my pediatric nursing career.
I wanted to be a pediatric nurse and move from the mountains of north Georgia into the big city of Atlanta. When I graduated in May 1999, Children's was the only hospital I applied to. In July 1999, just one year after the merger with Egleston, I started as a new graduate RN on the second floor at Scottish Rite. Since then, I have seen such growth and had so many memorable moments. Being part of the Children's family has exposed me to an incredible level of pediatric care and professional advancement as a nurse.
Caring for the patients and families, teaching evidence-based care practices, working alongside others who are passionate about kids and taking ourselves to the next level ... those experiences are icing on the cake of each day. Children's has been my family and home-away-from-home for 15.5 years, and I look forward to many more years!
