Refer a Patient

To refer a patient to the Children's Orthopaedic Hip program call 404-785-HIPS or fill out this online form.

Our team will need the following information:

  • Patient's name
  • Patient's date of birth
  • Contact information for the parent/guardian
  • Diagnosis
  • Whether or not the child is in acute pain

As a pediatrician, you may be the first to screen for hip problems. If in your evaluation the symptoms are not clear cut, an orthopaedic consult may be indicated.

Patients with potential pediatric and adolecsent hip conditions often exhibit certain signs, including:

  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Rotational asymmetry
  • Asymmetry of skin folds
  • Asymmetry in range of motion
  • Muscle atrophy
  • Positive hip instability tests (Ortolani sign, Barlow test)
  • Positive Galeazzi sign
  • Abmormal gait

Led by Tim Schrader, M.D., Medical Director, our pediatric-trained team of orthopaedic experts treat patients from birth to age 21. This means we provide a unique level of care that may not be found at an adult-focused healthcare provider.
