Team

Led by Tim Schrader, M.D., Medical Director, the Children’s Orthopaedic Hip program features a multidisciplinary team of medical experts who are nationally recognized in their fields. Our pediatric-trained team includes:

  • ­Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons: pediatric, fellowship-trained physicians who specialize in orthopedic surgical procedures, fractures and conditions for infants, children and adolescents 
  • ­Pediatric anesthesiologists: physicians who specialize in administering medications or other agents that prevent or relieve pain, especially during surgery 
  • Pediatric radiologists:physicians who are board certified with additional training in pediatric imaging
  • Pediatric surgical services: the surgical team experienced in caring for the wide variety of medical issues children may have, ranging from hernias or appendicitis to cancer or serious congenital anomalies.   
  • ­Pediatric nurses: healthcare professionals with special training to treat infants, children and adolescents who provide comprehensive nursing care and education for patients.
  • ­Pediatric physical therapists: healthcare professionals who evaluate and provide treatment for children with health problems resulting from injury, disease, or overuse of muscles or tendons.
      
  • ­Social workers: professionals who use assessment and intervention skills to provide families with counseling, education, and resources to enhance their coping and well-being with illness or injury
  • ­Child life specialists: trained professionals who work with patients and families to help reduce the stress and anxiety that can be associated with the healthcare experience

Each of our team members strives to provide comprehensive care for our patients by addressing the patient’s—and the family’s—physical and emotional needs, which enhances the patient’s overall treatment experience.
