Transfer With One Call
The new Children’s Transfer Center will arrange for the acceptance and admission of your patient with just one phone call. To transfer a patient 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has made transferring patients easy. The new Children’s Transfer Center will arrange for the acceptance and admission of your patient with one phone call.
Whether your patient is being transferred from an Emergency department or other inpatient facility, a specialized registered nurse will assist you with:
- Locating a physician
- Coordinating ground or air transportation for your patient
- Arranging for a bed with the appropriate level of care to be ready upon arrival
- Initiating registration paperwork, including financial information and precertification
As the referring physician, you will be able to transfer patients to the hospitalists at Children’s. In the coming months, the Children’s Transfer Center will be expanding to incorporate additional specialty services.

Does the Children's Transfer Center transfer patients to all of the Children's hospital campuses?
Yes, the Children's Transfer Center transfers patients to all three of the Children's hospital campuses: Children's at Egleston, Children's at Hughes Spalding and Children's at Scottish Rite.
What if I am not certain the patient needs to be transferred and just wish to consult with a pediatric specialist, do I still call the Children's Transfer Center?
Yes, a registered nurse at the Children's Transfer Center will coordinate this call.
Do I schedule outpatient diagnostics or testing for my patient through the Children's Transfer Center?
No, the Children's Transfer Center only coordinates patient transfers for inpatient admission or patients transferring to the Emergency department.
