Summer 2010
Meet Jasmine
Jasmine Holliday tells anyone who listens that she’s going to be a star. Those who know Jasmine best call her by her nickname—Jazz. With a determination far beyond her years, 11-year-old Jazz has spent her life overcoming obstacles. Born with a rare condition called bilateral tibial hemimelia, Jazz’s legs were severely deformed at birth. At 6 weeks old, doctors at Children’s amputated Jazz’s legs. When she was just 1 year old, she was fitted with her first pair of prosthetic legs. Since then, Jazz has undergone eight surgeries and continues physical therapy after each new fitting. Her mom, Tessa Anderson, said Jazz has an upbeat, energetic spirit. When her fellow students participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart because she could not jump, Jazz walked 40 laps to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Miracle Jeans Day
Employees who participate in Miracle Jeans Day by making a $5 donation will receive a button to show their support for Children’s Miracle Network. Visit www.miraclejeansday.com for more information or to register.
Get involved through volunteer opportunities, including:
-
Parent’s Night Out—having a child in the hospital can be a stressful time. Corporate groups of six to eight volunteers help relieve this stress by providing a white table-clothed, catered dinner for parents, grandparents and guardians to talk, relax and enjoy one another.
-
Corporate Perks—giving parents a break, a coffee break. Visit the hospitals during a weekday morning and hand out coffee, juice and a snack. Visit www.choa.org/campchildrens to learn more.
Get in the game with Donate A.
The Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children’s now works with Donate A, a not-for-profit organization. Season ticket holders of various Atlanta professional and collegiate teams can donate tickets that would otherwise be unused.
Visit www.donatea.com for more information.
