Building Bridges

Georgia's School Health Connection

Building Bridges is a collaborative effort between Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Kohl's Cares for Kids.

The goal is to support school health programs and  strengthen the connection between school nurses  and educators to ensure children are healthy and ready to learn. This collaboration produces the Building Bridges calendar and the Building Bridges newsletter.

Injuries on school grounds are common, and specialized treatment is important. Children’s offers comprehensive care for fractures, sprains and strains.

Operation: Prevent Flu

School nurses are on the front line of the fight against the flu. We have provided some tools to help school nurses protect themselves and the children they see every day. Find tips and frequently asked questions on flu prevention and care.
  • Consider wearing a protective mask when caring for children with flu.
  • Move students, teachers and staff to a separate room while awaiting pick-up if they are sick.
  • Clean surfaces regularly.
  • Educate and encourage students and staff to cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezes.
  • Remind teachers, staff and students about good hand hygiene practices.

Visit the flu toolkit from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for more information about communicating flu preparedness to your school.
