Physicians and staff at the Children’s Immediate Care Centers treat patients from birth to age 21 with minor illnesses and injuries. When a child has a minor emergency and his regular doctor is not available, such as on evenings and weekends, the centers are available. An average Immediate Care Center visit takes less time and is often less expensive than an Emergency department visit.

The Immediate Care Center staff treat common illnesses and injuries including:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Bites
  • Colds and flu
  • Coughing and wheezing
  • Earaches and ear infections
  • Fevers (children older than 2 months)
  • Minor cuts

  • Minor burns
  • Skin rashes
  • Sore throats
  • Sprains and strains
  • Stomachaches
  • Uncomplicated fractures
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
We also provide X-rays, splinting and lab services to assist in treating a child’s injury or illness.

The Children’s Call Center nurses can help parents determine whether they should take their child to one of the Children’s Emergency departments or one of the Children’s Immediate Care Centers, by calling 404-250-KIDS (available 24 hours a day).

Immediate Care services are available at Children’s Healthcare at Satellite Boulevard. In addition, Children’s has four other Immediate Care locations throughout metro Atlanta.

*Call Ahead Care

To better serve children and their families, parents can call 404-785-CALL (2255) and our staff will add their child to the sign-in list before they arrive. Although not an appointment, an arrival time will be provided, allowing the child to remain in the comfort of home until he can be seen by the medical staff at an Immediate Care Center.
