About the Children's Sibley Heart Center
A Heart Center Designed for Children
We recently expanded our pediatric facilities to include space for new equipment for medical staff and amenities for families. Additional beds have been added for a total of 27 beds in the Michael P. Fisher Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and 27 beds in the the Cardiac Step-down unit (CSU)—which allows our pediatric-trained cardiologists and staff to provide comprehensive cardiac services to infants, children, teenagers and young adults with heart disease in a leading-edge facility designed just for pediatric patients.

Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
The 27-bed Children’s Michael P. Fisher CICU, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, offers comprehensive care for critically ill cardiac children. |

In this 27-bed unit, our team provides medical management, comprehensive pre-operative and postoperative care for patients with congenital or acquired cardiac problems. |

Cardiac catheterization laboratories (cath labs)
Three cath labs (interventional, diagnostic and electrophysiology) offer leading-edge equipment for procedures that do not require surgical incisions. |

Noninvasive cardiology diagnostic areas
Here, techniques are used—such as echocardiogram, electrocardiogram and pacemaker analysis—to diagnose and evaluate the heart and its functions. |

Pediatric heart surgery suites
The Children’s pediatric cardiac surgery team uses the latest technology to perform advanced pediatric surgical heart procedures for infants, children, teenagers and young adults. |
