Orthopaedic surgeons at Children’s care for thousands of patients who require specialized medical and surgical treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal diseases, complicated congenital anomalies, and deformities and injuries throughout Georgia, the Southeast and internationally. The Orthopaedics program includes orthopaedic surgery, a hip program, orthotics and prosthetics, scoliosis screening, a limb deficiency center, sports medicine and a hand clinic. Orthopaedics at Children's also is ranked No. 5 in the U.S. by Parents magazine.

That’s why we treat everything from cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy to bone breaks, sprains and sports overuse injuries. With our help, your child can enjoy being a kid again.

Services Offered:

  • Hand Treatment Clinic—Dedicated orthopaedic hand surgeons provide expert care for children with congenital and trauma-induced conditions of the hand or upper extremity.
  • Orthopaedic Hip program—Specially trained pediatric orthopaedic surgeons use advanced rehabilitative, surgical and imaging services to evaluate and treat congenital and acquired hip conditions.
  • Limb Deficiency Center—Physicians address the surgical, medical, therapeutic and emotional needs of children and adolescents with congenital or acquired upper- and lower-extremity limb deficiencies.
  • Orthotics and Prosthetics program—Physicians address the physical and therapeutic needs of children, adolescents and young adults with conditions that require orthotic or prosthetic intervention.
  • Sports Medicine program—This program offers comprehensive orthopaedic, medical and surgical services for student athletes at the elite, high school and middle school levels.
  • Scoliosis Screening program—This program provides annual screenings for Georgia schoolchildren, as well as treatment for spine deformity. 
  • Rehabilitation Services—Physicians provide treatment for diverse conditions, from traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, to neurological diseases and other childhood impairments resulting from accidents, illnesses, injuries, congenital defects and syndromes.
  • Fracture Care—Fellowship-trained pediatric specialists available 24 hours provide expert specialty care for pediatric fractures. Convenient therapy locations simplify follow-up care.
  • Neuromuscular Clinics—Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons participate in multidisciplinary cerebral palsy, spasticity and myelodysplasia clinics, providing comprehensive orthopaedic, neurologic and urologic surgical care as well as orthotic and rehabilitative care.
  • Musculoskeletal Tumors—Orthopaedic surgeons work with radiologists, oncologists, physiatry specialists and neurosurgeons to offer optimum care for both benign and malignant lesions. The goal is not only limb- and life-sparing care but rapid return to function.
