Spring Baseball Classic for Kids Aims to Hit a Home Run for Children's
Collegiate and High School Rivals on Deck for Doubleheader Fundraiser
ATLANTA – The 2006 Spring Baseball Classic for Kids The 2006 Spring Baseball Classic for Kids on May 11 at Turner Field presents a doubleheader – and a home run – for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. For $10 admission, fans can enjoy matches between collegiate and high school rivals, with all proceeds benefiting the not-for-profit pediatric healthcare system.
At 4 p.m., Gwinnett County rivals Greater Atlanta Christian School and Wesleyan School step up to the plate; then at 7 p.m., Georgia Tech takes on University of Georgia.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Children's and its Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Program, which treats more than 70 patients annually. The program has earmarked incoming funds toward the purchase of an intra-operative MRI system, which provides real-time, high-quality images of the brain before, during and after surgery. The system's accuracy offers an advantage for the removal of brain tumors in children.
In 2005, the Spring Baseball Classic for Kids raised more than $220,000 for Children's. This year's event is presented by the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children.
