Children's Sibley Heart Center Recognized for Excellence in Pediatric Care
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was recently ranked among top pediatric hospitals in the U.S.News & World Report 2010 edition of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals.” Recognized as one of the most comprehensive listings of its kind, the report ranks hospitals that show excellence in pediatric specialty areas. Several specialty areas at Children’s are ranked including heart/heart surgery (No. 7).
At the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Sibley Heart Center, pediatric physicians specialize in caring for children who have congenital heart defects, and for those patients who develop heart defects later in their childhood or teen years. Pediatric cardiologists, cardiac intensivists, pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatric heart surgeons and staff work together to treat thousands of children with heart problems each year. In 2009, Parents magazine also ranked the Sibley Heart Center among the top five pediatric hospitals in the U.S. for heart/heart surgery.
The 2010 edition of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” is published online at www.usnews.com/childrenshospitals and will be featured in the August issue of U.S.News & World Report, available on newsstands Tuesday, July 27. The 75-page survey was completed by 96 pediatric hospitals, and results are based on reputation, medical outcomes and care-related indicators of quality.
