Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Remains in the Top Ten on Atlanta's Best Places to Work List

Not-for-profit appears on the prestigious list for seventh consecutive year

ATLANTA – (September 25, 2009) – Atlanta’s leading business publication, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, named Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to its list of “Atlanta’s Best Places to Work.” Children’s ranked No. 8 on the 2009 list of Atlanta’s best places to work for large companies and is the only Atlanta hospital on the list. This is the seventh year in a row the publication has listed Children's among the best employers in Atlanta.

"Atlanta is home to many great companies, so to be recognized as one of the top 10 best large employers is an honor. Children’s recognizes that providing employees with the programs, resources, and environment to enable them to be at their very best, both personally and professionally will ensure our continued success,” said Linda Matzigkeit, senior vice president, strategic planning and human resources. “Furthermore, our support for employee success is illustrated by our programs and benefits that allow them to strive for health and wellness and work/life success, which inevitably enable them to get kids back to being kids.”

The not-for-profit organization was recently named to Working Mother magazine’s highly competitive 100 Best Companies list. Children’s has been listed by Working Mother five consecutive years and is one of one of only three Georgia based companies on the list for 2009.

During uncertain economic times, Children’s continued to invest training and educating employees at all levels. For example – Children’s expanded flex schedules, launched a wellness program and introduced stress-reducing workshops. Also new: free on-site personal training with dietitians and fitness coaches with awards for the most ardent participants.

“We believe by helping our employees improve their health and wellness they are better able to take care of the kids we serve,” said Matzigkeit.
