The Children's Christmas Parade Volunteer Committees
Animal Committee - We have horse groups in the parade, as well as other animal groups, and you and your volunteers will be asked to greet the trailers as they arrive, oversee load-off of the animals. You will have directions to hand to the trailer drivers either where they need to park at the end or how they should get their animals back to the lot after the parade. Be prepared to move the groups up into the parade in the order that they will appear as directed by the integrator.
Band Committee - Greet band buses as they arrive. You will be given written instructions to hand to the drivers so they can park their buses in the proper area at Disband. Line the bands up in the order that they will march in the parade. Be ready to move the groups forward as instructed by the integrator.
Balloon Committee - Work with the representatives from Balloon Company on details related to the balloons. We will give you a list of the balloons in the order they will go down the parade route along with a detailed list of who is handling what balloon.
Balloon Handlers (group applications only) - The parade will have many giant helium-filled balloons. These handlers must be at least 16 years of age and physically able to maneuver these large balloons down the parade route. We encourage groups of 20 to 36 people to apply.
Banner Committee - We will have multiple banners throughout the parade and volunteers will be asked to carry these banners down the parade route.
Disband Committee - Once participants are dropped off at the marshalling area, their vehicles will be parked in the disband area. It will be your duty to meet these vehicles as they arrive into the area and park them efficiently so they can exit as soon as participants are loaded. As the parade reaches the end of the route, someone is needed to tell the groups where to go. You will be given a very detailed list of what to expect from the parade units and where everything is to go or be placed.
Wheels Committee - You will be given a list of all floats and wheels in order; it is your job to work with other committee members to line up all floats and entries with wheels in the order that they will be in the parade, and be prepared to move them forward as the integrator instructs.
Specialty Committee - Specialty units will show up at staggered arrival times. You will be given a list of all specialty units in order - it is your job to work with other committee members to line them up in the order that they will be in the parade and be prepared to move them forward as the integrator instructs.
