  • When should I apply?
      New graduate job openings are posted two months before the typical graduation dates. Be sure to get your application in early to be considered. You can find the new grad posting, listed as "New Graduate Nurse Opportunities (Nurse Residency)" on our Job Opportunities page.

      - December graduates: begin applying Oct. 1

      - May graduates: begin applying March 1

  • What areas hire new grads?
      Almost all of our units hire new graduate nurses depending on needs and available positions. We hire into the PICU, NICU, CICU, Hem/Onc, Med/Surg and Emergency Departments.
  • Do you offer a new graduate program?
      Our new graduate program is the nurse residency program. It is a year-round program that offers a series of classes, both clinical and lecture based. The program offers flexibility of start dates, and depending on when you pass your boards, you are able to enroll at any time throughout the year.
  • Do you offer an extern program?
      We offer a 10-week summer externship. This is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to learn more about the pediatric environment. Applications are received annually in January, and requirements include a completed pediatric clinical rotation.
  • Does Children's offer loan repayment?
      While we don't offer loan repayment through our organization, we do qualify for the Stafford Loan repayment program. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides a comprehensive overview and application for the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program. We will work closely with employees to get them the necessary paperwork, such as documentation on being a Disproportionate Share Hospital.
