Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has a highly qualified, certified team of interpreters and translators. These specialists play an important role in the care of our patients, and they work with doctors, nurses and family services, as well as other team members.
The use of qualified interpreters can help prevent or reduce the risk of inadequate or unsafe care. Our specialists bridge communication and cultural gaps and serve as advocates for our patients and their families. We provide assistance with:
- Treatment plans
- Medical consent forms
- Other communication needs
Our services include:
- Spanish interpreters
- Foreign language interpreters
- Sign language interpreters
- Phone interpreters
- Written translation services
- Cultural resources
We also use Pacific Interpreters, a telephone service that is available 24 hours a day and provides interpretation in more than 150 different languages. This service is available at our three hospitals and 17 neighborhood locations.
The interpreting and translating services team is comprised of highly qualified individuals in the field of pediatric medical interpretation. One such team member is Xiomara Armas, a Spanish-language interpreter at Children's at Scottish Rite. Learn more about Xiomara and her position here.
