Liver transplant team
Pediatric liver transplant surgeons: doctors who perform the pediatric liver transplant surgery and are in charge of your child’s care in the children’s hospital following the liver transplant.
Pediatric hepatologists: doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases in children. They work with the transplant surgeon to care for your child's digestive system (stomach, liver and intestines).
Heart transplant team
- Pediatric heart transplant surgeons: doctors who perform the heart transplant surgery and are in charge of your child’s care in the hospital following the heart transplant. The heart transplant surgeons, along with the cardiologists (heart doctors), follow your child’s progress after your child is discharged.
- Pediatric cardiologists: heart doctors who often manage your child’s care before the heart transplant. After the heart transplant, the cardiologists monitor your child’s care by performing routine heart biopsies to make sure the new heart is functioning properly.
Kidney transplant team
- Pediatric kidney transplant surgeons: doctors that perform the kidney transplant surgery and are in charge of your child’s care in the hospital following the kidney transplant.
- Pediatric nephrologists: doctors that take care of patients with kidney disease before and after a transplant.
