Caring for Your Child

Your child will be cared for by doctors, nurses and a family support team who are all dedicated to children sickle cell disease. The family support team consists of:

  • Child life specialists
  • Social workers
  • Chaplains
  • Teachers
  • Psychologists
  • Financial coordinators

Your child can receive routine or outpatient care at one of the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders three sickle cell clinics. These clinics focus on prevention, treatment and follow-up of the disease and its complications. The sickle cell disease team will also coordinate with other specialists and your child’s primary care doctor to assure the very best care is administered.
