ATLANTA (May 16, 2013)—The Kohl’s Healthy Halls School Wellness Program has reached a total of 85,233 students and staff at elementary schools around the community since beginning in January 2012. This program is part of an initiative led by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to instill healthy habits in the community. The Kohl’s Healthy Halls program offers a 40-minute performance delivered by a professional theater group that focuses on Strong4Life habits such as making your plate half fruits and vegetables and being active for 60 minutes daily.
Funding for the Kohl’s Healthy Halls program is provided by the purchasing of a book or plush toy from the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program at local Kohl’s Department Stores.
Throughout the year, Kohl’s sells special Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise for $5 with 100 percent of the net profit benefiting youth-serving programs and organizations nationwide. Merchandise sold in Atlanta directly benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Now through the end of June, Kohl’s Cares is featuring the beloved Deborah Diesen books, The Pout-Pout Fish and The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark, along with coordinating plush toys and matching tote bag for just $5 each. These items are perfect for kids to bring along on summer trips or for lazy afternoons in the sun.
Thanks to the Kohl’s Cares merchandise program, Children’s is providing Healthy Halls programs to 118 elementary schools in metro Atlanta.
